FLAC (Itasca) is an explicit finite differences program for two- dimensional mechanical calculations. At the chair this program is used to simulate two-dimensional geotechnical problems. In addition to the basic program options, “creep”, “dynamic”, “thermal” and “user-defined models” can be selected. On the one hand these options allow calculation of creeping (long-term problem), on the other hand analyses of dynamic processes like earthquakes, vibrations, etc. or thermal problems. The option “user-defined models” enables implementation of own constitutive laws in FLAC. The field of application ranges from simple stress analyses to complex simulations including support measures and rheological behavior.

FLAC 3D (Itasca) is an explicit finite differences program for three- dimensional mechanical calculations. At the chair this program is used to simulate three-dimensional geotechnical problems.
